About Us
The Braco Hotel is a well established inn in the village of Braco. The original hotel dates back over 200 years, although it has been extended as recently as 1935 !!!! We offer great, affordable, accommodation and superb home cooked meals. Our staff are on hand to make your visit, be it business or leisure, as pleasurable as possible.
The village itself dates back (under the guise of Ardoch; the current Parish name) over 1,700 years when the Romans had an encampment here. The site is reputed to be one of the best preserved military earthworks to be found anywhere in the Roman Empire and is accessible from an entry point an the A822 immediately to the north of the bridge leaving the village, and is owned by Historic Scotland.
Located in the centre of the village, the hotel makes a perfect base from which to explore the local countryside. In the immediate vicinity we have an abundance of golf courses, a falconry school, horse riding facilities, hill-walking, and, of course, whisky distilleries. ( Please see the "Local Attractions" link for more details )
For those that prefer a slightly faster pace in life, Scotland's national motor racing circuit, Knockhill, is but a half an hour away, and regularly hosts National Level Saloon Car and Superbike Racing
Stirling ( where once the Kings and Queens of Scotland were crowned ) lies approximately 10 miles to the South, with the impressive Stirling Castle sitting high on a dormant volcanic core overlooking the Carse. Nearby is the Wallace monument which stands high over the surrounding area and houses the Claymore owned by William Wallace, the freedom fighter portrayed by Mel Gibson in the film "Braveheart". This is undoubtedly one of the best vantage points from which to view the surrounding country.
Stirling is also known for perhaps the most famous of all the battles conducted in Scotland, Bannockburn, where Robert The Bruce turned back the English army in 1314, and at Bannockburn there is a Hertitage Centre dedicated to this.
Both Glasgow and Edinburgh are within easy reach with a train service from nearby Dunblane taking you into the centre of both in approximately half an hour to forty minutes. To the north, Aberdeen is also but an hour away.
